✔️ Rock the Park w/The Sagas/The Venus/Joshua Reilly The new year is here, and downtown Tampa concert series Rock the Park is getting off to a fast start with this free show that kicks off with a set by Pinellas songwriter Joshua Reilly, who’s been bringing his Midwestern take on Florida folk songs to many a new stage as of late (Reilly, 39, is a resident at Safety Harbor’s Crooked Thumb Brewery, but he’s played alongside new artists in new-to-him venues toward the end of 2018). This pet and kid-friendly show sees an out-of-town act — Atlanta-based solpunk band The Sagas — taking the stage with a hybrid sound (think reggae, funk, jazz, metal, ska and more all mixed together) in the headlining slot. Read more about Rock the Park’s other local act, The Venus, to your right. (Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, Tampa) INFO
Grateful Dead Nite w/Uncle John’s Band In May, CL shed light on Uncle John’s Band’s 1000th show at Skipper’s Smokehouse’s Grateful Dead tribute night, and the most Grateful show on Earth just keeps rolling on, and on and on with this, UJB’s 1030th show under the Skipperdome. Bet you never imagined dancing barefoot under the oaks with your son and grandson, old man. Free to attend. (Skipper’s Smokehouse, Tampa) INFO
Tropico Blvd. w/Oak Ramble/Blubop Fandango Folk and Americana (Oak Ramble), funk (Tropico Blvd.) and a very strange, yet enticing, blend of banjo-jazz and jam-rock (Blubop Fandango) come out to play at Dunedin Brewery, which hosts this free Thursday-night concert. (Dunedin Brewery, Dunedin) INFO
